I’m a wine person as well, but no where near as knowledgeable as you! Hell, I pick a bottle of wine by the pretty/cool/attractive label and/or bottle! Seriously!

Yeah, I went through the CC&7 phase, the Long Island Ice Tea phase, the Gin & Tonic phase, the pina colada phase, but honestly, I can drink A LOT of hard liquor and it has hardly any effect on me at all. Beer puts me to sleep. I can’t stand red wine – gives me a wicked headache in seconds, and honestly, I can’t stand the smell nor taste. I love champagne – it makes me giggly as all get out. White wine – makes me happy & content – I love a good dry wine – don’t like sweet or fruity wines. And yes, nothing makes me feel more ‘grown up’ and ‘cosmopolitan’ than wine in a special wine glass. But hell, I’ll drink it out of a paper cup!

Mmmm, wine. I get wordy while on wine, too. You know how a lot of potheads say they are at their most creative while high? Well, a lot of wino’s think the same.

But dude? I will NOT drink wine out of a regular glass. It’s all about the experience for me, too. The clink. the bonds, etc….

Am I making any sense? I had wine tonight.

i just became a wine lover myself. personally, i can’t do reds cause of the brain tumor but.. i love a light pinot grigio. in fact, pinot is my FAVE.

YUM.

coffee? the jury’s still out on it. HAH.

I like wine for many of the reasons you say, I usually jam out wine when I am in a happy place, so wine is equated with good times, good food, good peoples.

You know I used to hate wine until I got pregnant with my son. We had a big party for my parent’s 50th birthdays and because I couldn’t drink I toasted with a small glass of red wine, a shiraz I think. It was so yummy that a month later, after I delivered my son, I decided to keep on drinking it. Then I moved on to other wines and now my favorite is Chardonnay, its funny though because I always order wine now and I never thought I would be that person. It makes me feel like a grown up…lol.

Two of my favorite things to drink – coffee and wine – although my taste in wine is probably fairly plebeian compared to yours. I have been drinking a variety of coffees lately – ever since we bought a Keurig machine here at the office – it’s been Caribou, Kona blends, Green Mountain blends – all kinds of stuff – looking for ‘the one’. And enjoying every minute of it.

As for wine, I LOVE German whites – Spatlese or Auslese for sipping or with a meal. For dessert, I like a Berenauslese or a Trochenberenauslese – but they ARE heavy and sweet, so not too much at one time. But other wines – reds and blushes – usually don’t fit my palate. I don’t much care for tart wine – smooth and sweet for me.

My favorite drink, however, is a 40 dollar rum called Ron Zacapa Centenario, from Guatemala. Recent name change, however, makes it a bit confusing – because it will be called, going forward, Ron Zacapa Sistema Solara 23. It’s 23 year old, aged rum. It is the smoothest sipping rum you will ever whet your whistle with.

Try it sometime. And SIP IT. Do not mix it with anything. This is like a cognac, or a good brandy – it stands alone.
